Vintage Marilyn Monroe Photograph — Korea, February 1954 — From Korean War Serviceman\'s Scrapbook
Offered is an intriguing black-and-white photograph depicting Marilyn Monroe during what appears to be her famous February 1954 USO entertainment tour of American military installations in Korea.
Marilyn is pictured wearing a sparkling, form-fitting stage dress with a microphone nearby.
The reverse bears handwritten notations identifying:
Provenance: This photograph was preserved in a Korean War scrapbook assembled by my father during his military service. It was the only Marilyn Monroe photograph in his scrapbook. I believe he acquired the photograph during his service rather than personally taking it.
The photograph measures approximately 4 × 5 inches and appears to be printed on traditional glossy photographic paper.
Marilyn Monroe\'s February 1954 visit to Korea was one of the most celebrated appearances of her career, during which she performed for thousands of American servicemen.
This photograph comes directly from my late father\'s personal Korean War scrapbook. The original scrapbook contains numerous photographs documenting his military service, including additional USO entertainment performances and audiences of American servicemen.
The Marilyn Monroe photograph was mounted on its own scrapbook page, accompanied by my father\'s handwritten caption: \"This section would not be complete without a shot of Marilyn Monroe catching cold.\"
Other scrapbook pages feature photographs of stage entertainers, musicians, and military audiences, with the handwritten observation: \"The USO shows were always a welcome sight.\"
These original scrapbook pages provide additional historical context for the photograph. The identity of the photographer and the precise date the print was produced remain unverified.
The Marilyn Monroe photograph is being sold separately; the scrapbook and other photographs are not included.
Important note: Although this photograph comes from a Korean War-era family scrapbook, its exact printing date, photographer, and original distribution have not been independently verified. It is offered as an ungraded, unauthenticated vintage photographic print, not as an authenticated Type I photograph or an autographed item.
An appealing piece of Hollywood, Marilyn Monroe, USO, and Korean War memorabilia.
Please review all photographs, including the handwritten reverse, as they are part of the description.
