A very rare and hard-to-find set consisting of a Pelikan M500 fountain pen, K600 ballpoint and D600 pencil.
The M500 was a designation Pelikan used for the Japanese market, and this set left the factory with the ballpoint and pencil that usually went with the M600.
Otherwise, the fountain pen seems to be the same as the regular M400 from the era. The black color was rarer than the tortoise and especially green, so coupled with the condition and special model designation, this is a very interesting find. For some reason Pelikan added a sticker with model details on the bottom of the box, so I presume they didn't want to make a new box for a small number of sets.
The nib is crafted from 14k 585 gold and is a M- Medium. A very smooth and relatively flexy nib to write with.
The pens are in NOS-New Old Stock condition, as you can see in the pictures. There are no cracks visible anywhere on it. The nib collar is also not cracked.
The set consists of:
M500 fountain pen
K600 ballpoint
D600 pencil
Ink bottle
Also included are the original gift box and instruction manual/ warranty certificate.
The nib writes well and the pen has received a service, which included thorough cleaning and lubrication of the moving parts with silicone grease. Most M400 pens had a piston assembly that was made to break if disassembled, so a full disassembly was not possible in many cases. And there was no need to disassemble this pen, as it was never used, so a slight silicone grease refresh was all it needed.
The M400 came after the 400NN. It looked the same as the earlier 400, although all the parts were different.
I have provided a writing sample using Pelikan 4001 blue tint, in order to further describe the writing characteristics of the nib. Please keep in mind that I am a left handed writer
The ballpoint and pencil both use a push-button mechanism. The pencil uses 0.7mm leads, which will come in it. The ballpoint uses a standard refill.
Shipping is with Fedex or DHL Express, takes 1-7 days in most cases. Usually there are no custom duties for my customers, however I cannot guarantee this, thus any possible customs chargers are the buyers response.
The pen is guaranteed authentic.
