Offered for sale is one (1) fine unused vintage Art Deco glassshade, suitable for use with a chandelier, hanging fixture, or wall sconce.This elegant satin-frosted molded decorative glass shade features a beautifullysculpted entwined fish “Poisson” motif, with the soft luminosity, reliefdetail, and refined presentation associated with the French Art Deco glass design.This shade is new old stock and remains in excellent unused condition, with modeststorage wear consistent with age, handling, and stacking. Noted conditiondetails include small nicks to the smooth cut rim, light surface scratches, minorflakes and small nicks to raised high points, subtle discoloration to thefrosting, and small nicks on the backsides of the mounting holes. Embeddedbubbles within the glass appear to be production-related characteristicstypical of molded glass of this type and period. These details are mentionedfor accuracy and do not detract from the vintage shade’s use and impressivedisplay quality or decorative appeal.The shade measures approximately 13” in diameter and approximately 4-1/4” tall.The glass is just over 1/4” thick and includes three (3) side mounting holes,each approximately 3/8” in diameter.
Three (3) of these Art Deco glassshades are available at the time of listing. Oneretains a label indicating manufactureby Vianne Glass of France. Comparable examples have beenattributed by others to Verlys ofFrance and its predecessor, Verrerie des Hanots. Subtlevariations among the available glass shades furtherhighlight their handmade character.
