Vintage Set Of 6 Trays From Occupied Japan Made Between 1945-1951 With A Mount Fuji Scenic On Black Lacquer Painted Papier Mache.
Gold and white painted scene of a waterside view with a distant tree lined shore, flocks of birds and Mount Fuji in the background, all on a black lacquered papier mache tray. Trays are 8-1/8” long, and 4-15/16” wide. Each tray shows a slightly different take on the scene, displaying the individual artists interpretation.
All the trays show wear, scratches, and chips from handling and usage, with three of them having chips out of the lacquer revealing the papier mache underneath. There are four major chips on these three trays that we have provided close up views in the pictures. Look at all pictures as they show details of the condition and are part of the description.
