Original 1953 SS UNITED STATES passenger list brochure from the April 30, 1953 transatlantic sailing from Southampton, England, via Le Havre, France, to New York. Owned continuously by one of the passengers named in this original 1953 passenger list.
This is an especially interesting passenger-owned example with documented Eshelman family provenance.
The passenger list includes four members of the Eshelman family traveling together:
• Edwin Eshelman
• Sarah Eshelman
• David Eshelman – child
• Paul Eshelman – child
The four Eshelman family names have period check marks beside them in the passenger list, providing a personal connection between this surviving brochure and the family that traveled aboard the SS United States.
The brochure has remained in Eshelman family ownership and is presently owned by David Eshelman.
Entitled "Passenger List – SS United States," the brochure contains the names of passengers aboard the voyage as well as period passenger information, rules, prices/rates and other United States Lines voyage material.
