Original WW1 German Spiked Helmet Leather Chinstrap M91 Mount Parts Repair Relic For Sale

Original WWI Imperial German Pickelhaube Leather Chinstrap (For Parts/Repair)
Up for sale is an original World War I-era Imperial German enlisted leather Pickelhaube chinstrap. Due to its age and field wear, this strap is being sold as a relic or parts piece, ideal for a restoration project.
Condition & Features:

• Leather Condition: The leather is fairly fragile, heavily aged, and exhibits severe tearing and damage on one end. The central portion of the strap remains intact but shows heavy surface cracking.

• Brass Hardware: The strap retains two original square brass adjustment buckles.

• M91 Mounts: One original brass M91 mounting loop remains attached to the more solid end of the strap. The M91 mounting loop on the damaged opposite end is missing.

• Corrosion & Patina: The brass fittings exhibit noticeable green verdigris and surface corrosion. This surface oxidation can be addressed and neutralized using safe, step-by-step metal cleaning and preservation methods if you decide to salvage and restore the hardware.
