Original WWII-era 8th Army Air Force (8th AAF) “Stubby Wing” shoulder sleeve insignia.
This example features the distinctive early short/stubby-wing configuration, with embroidered gold wings and ring surrounding the white-and-red star, on a blue wool foundation.
The patch has noticeable moth/insect damage throughout portions of the blue wool, including multiple small holes and areas of wool loss. The embroidery itself remains substantially intact and retains good definition. There are also loose threads and other age-related imperfections.
The reverse retains its original woven backing/construction.
