PRE-COLUMBIAN OLMEC JADE SEATED BABY FIGURE 1200 BC-400 BC
DESCRIPTION:
Pre-Columbian Olmec carved jade seated baby figure, ca. 1200 BC–400 BC.
This finely carved jade sculpture depicts a stylized infant in a seated position, reflecting the distinctive human imagery associated with ancient Olmec artistic traditions. The compact proportions and rounded form give the figure a strong sculptural presence, while the natural coloration and mineral variations of the jade enhance its individual character.
Olmec art is particularly known for its distinctive infant and baby-like figures, making this an appealing subject for collectors of early Mesoamerican 2 1/4 in. H x 2 1/2 in. W.
