DESCRIPTION: Scans show it all.....nice early, c.1800. 22 pages plus paper covers. Tries to caution (STERNLY) against drinking, drunkenness, and supporting temperance. A REAL PROBLEM IN THOSE TIMES WHEN DISEASE WAS HIGH AND FOOD WAS SCARCE AND LIFE WAS HARD.
It is a printed copy of an address given by Jonathan Kittredge, Esq. in Lyme, New Hampshire. THIS IS AN ORIGINAL ITEM AND NOT A REPRODUCTION. It has great text content and very persuasive. Very interesting reading. Lots of statistics about drinking and the amount of spirits 2 REALLY NICE Early Engravings as shown.
It measures 4 1/4" tall x 6 3/4". Nice early printing, on great HAND MADE PAPER.
Looks good for its age. and is in nice, good condition overall. Has a couple of very small holes on one of the inside pages. Probably used a lot; covers reinforced with period hand stitching. A small rip on the back cover, AGAIN REPAIRED WITH PERIOD HAND STITCHING AS SHOWN. PERIOD PRIMITIVE REPAIRED ITEMS ARE ALWAYS PARTICULARLY NICE AS THEY SHOW WHAT WAS IMPORTANT AND THAT IN TRUE YANKEE SPIRIT THEY DID NOT THROW ANYTHING OUT!!
Nice early item from a Massachusetts estate. Great original antique decoration item for display, with nice appearance and aged patina. Quite suitable for framing.
