This vintage B. F. Goodrich Schwinn girl’s bike was originally estimated to have been manufactured in 1955. I knew it was a Pre-Owned gift to a six-year-old girl who was born in 1948. Recently, I received a request for the bicycle’s serial number. I was surprised to learn that Schwinn bicycles had serial numbers, but I dutifully complied with the inquirer’s request and found the number to be S99473. Out of curiosity, I went to the Schwinn website and discovered they offer a registry. And there it was: S99473 was manufactured on September 1, 1955!
All the parts are original and have not been painted. The frame and wheels are solid, but the tires will need to be replaced. The wheels are 20” diameter which is the key measurement in a child’s bicycle. The other component measurements are shown in one of the other photos. There are some spots of rust. Please check out the pictures carefully.
