This Form 18740 revisedJanuary 1934manual is the 2nd version of the Instruction Manual that Singer made for the School Bell Featherweight 221 sewing machines.
The copyright inside is 1933, but rather than print all new manuals it was changed slightly for 1934. Page 7 has the updated page that Singer pasted over the original page showing the change to the type 2 carrying case, Page 12 also shows the original needle plate and the original hook assembly with the wider screw hole (and spring behind).I tried to capture the condition accurately in the photos so please have a look. There is tape on the outside binder, and the outer cover can be separated from the inside pages. The inside pages stay together fine. There is some staining on the outer pages. I detect a slight smell from it. Not the smell of a stinky carrying case, but the smell my old featherweights have of old oil and metal that have been boxed up for decades. The middle pages are pretty clear and in good condition.
