Beautiful vintage Carter’s Grove, Williamsburg, Virginia architectural watercolor produced exclusively for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.
Signed “WEISS ©84” in the lower right and dating to 1984.
The original Colonial Williamsburg Foundation label remains on the back and states:
“Individually Handpainted in Watercolor by Local Artists — Produced Exclusively for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation.”
The artwork depicts historic Carter’s Grove plantation in Williamsburg, Virginia, surrounded by mature trees and landscaping. It features detailed architectural line work enhanced with individually applied watercolor.
The artist appears to be associated with Williamsburg artist Mary Alice Weiss, whose Williamsburg architectural works are found signed M. Weiss/M.A. Weiss; however, this piece is being offered conservatively as signed WEISS, as the full artist attribution has not been independently confirmed from Colonial Williamsburg Foundation records.
Presented in its vintage wood frame with dark matting. The original Colonial Williamsburg identification label remains attached to the backing.
