The set includes:
- 1 teapot with lid and woven handle
- 1 lidded sugar bowl
- 1 creamer
- 8 handleless tea cups in two coordinating sizes
- 4 smaller cups, approximately 2 7/8" tall x 2 5/8" diameter
- 4 larger cups, approximately 3 1/8" tall x 2 3/4" diameter
The teapot also features a built-in ceramic strainer inside the spout.
The combination of crackled celadon glaze, pierced decoration, gold detailing and horse imagery gives this set a wonderful distinctly Japanese appearance. The eight cups include four of each size rather than eight identical cups, and all coordinate with the teapot, sugar bowl and creamer.
Vintage wear is present, particularly to portions of the gold decoration, along with normal glaze and surface variation associated with age and this style of pottery. The woven handle also shows age-related wear. Please enlarge and review all photographs for the best representation of condition.
