Offered here is a beautiful and hard-to-find matching pair of vintage Radius One desk/letter trays, designed by acclaimed industrial designer William Sklaroff for Smith Metal Arts of Buffalo, New York.
The iconic Radius One collection was introduced in 1973 and is recognized for its distinctive modernist styling, rounded architectural lines and high-quality construction. These trays feature an elegant brushed brass/bronze-tone metal finish paired with black padded interiors, giving them a fantastic classic Mid-Century/1970s executive-office appearance.
Both trays retain their original “Radius One – Smith Metal Arts – Design: William Sklaroff – Buffalo New York” identification labels — an important feature for collectors.
Highlights: Matching pair of two original Radius One trays; authentic William Sklaroff design; Smith Metal Arts, Buffalo, New York; classic 1970s modernist design; substantial metal construction; black padded interiors; original identification labels present; increasingly difficult to find as a matching pair.
These are vintage pre-owned pieces and show normal age-related wear, including light surface marks, patina and some wear/light scratches and creasing to the black interiors. Please review all photographs carefully, as they are part of the description. They have not been aggressively polished or refinished, preserving their vintage character.
An outstanding addition to a Mid-Century Modern office, executive desk, vintage office collection, or William Sklaroff/Smith Metal Arts collection. They also make fantastic functional statement pieces—you can actually use them while displaying an important piece of American industrial design.
Sold as the matching pair shown in the photographs.
