This “Buy it Now” offering is for three extremelyrare vintage antique clay poker chips engraved with a cupid on a bicycle in threedifferent colors: red, white and blue. This historic chip design is known tocollectors as Cupid on Bike (PT-CH) and this design appeared as early as 1906in the U.S. Playing Card Co. (Cincinnati, OH) catalog of gambling supplies. Thechip was designed by John Omwake, illustrator of the iconic "Cupid"series, prominently featured on antique Bicycle 808 brand playing cards andcollectible clay poker chips from around 1905.
These chips are rated a “g” on the rarityscale and are very hard to find in this condition. I am including a deck ofBicycle 808 cards with a rider back. Together these items make a great display.The last photo on this listing (for reference purposes only) shows the originalcard design, the updated version common today and its original patent application.
Clay chips like these began replacing ivorychips in the 1880s manufacturers creating hundreds of designs through the early1900sfor gambling houses to prevent players from bringing in their ownidentical chips rather than “buying in.” The diverseand graphic designs make them popular with collectors today. These chips wouldmake a great addition to any poker chip or game collection or as a gift for thepoker or bicycle enthusiast.

Condition: Thesechips are in excellent condition for their age with nearly complete inking on adisplay side and only minor loss on the reverse, most notable on the red chip.
