Rare 1989 Met Museum Egyptian Bastet Cat w Kittens Statuette Vintage Replica For Sale

Rare 1989 Met Museum Egyptian Bastet Cat w Kittens Statuette Vintage ReplicaScarce vintage Metropolitan Museum of Art Egyptian Cat with Kittens statuette, acquired from The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York in 1989.This unusual museum reproduction depicts a large reclining mother cat surrounded by her kittens, an image associated with Bastet, the ancient Egyptian feline goddess connected with protection, motherhood and fertility. What makes this piece especially appealing is its scarcity on the secondary market. Unlike the many modern Egyptian-style Bastet figures available today, this is a roughly 37-year-old museum-shop reproduction with documented Met provenance. Exact examples of this particular mother-cat-and-kittens reproduction appear to be exceptionally difficult to locate today, making it an intriguing piece for collectors of vintage museum reproductions and Egyptian art.The composition is particularly charming, with the large alert mother cat towering over a group of individually modeled kittens gathered beneath her.Details:* Cat with Kittens / Bastet-inspired statuette
