Rare antique Inuit, Eskimo paddle drum made from Polar Bear Intestine and sewn with "sinew" which is made from the tendons of an animal and has old nails holding the hide down near the wooden handle. Has a black tarlike substance near the sinew possibly used for waterproofing....
Most likely made for religious ceremonies.
The drum is 21 and 3/4 inches long and 7 inches wide at the drumhead.
Very good condition with no rips or tears with a nice sound.
Circa late 19th or early 20th century.
