Rare antique English price pick dating to the Edwardian era, featuring bold black lettering on an aged metal sign with its original pointed stake.
This fascinating piece of early retail history would have been used to display pricing in a shop or market setting. The sign features a large, striking black price marking against a light-colored background, surrounded by a simple printed border.
The metal has developed a wonderful allover rusty patina, with rich brown oxidation, darkened edges, and authentic surface wear that speaks to its age and history.
The reverse retains remnants of its original finish, including the word “DURABLE” along the upper edge. The long, pointed metal stake remains attached, making this an especially interesting surviving example of early shop display equipment.
An outstanding collectible for enthusiasts of English antiques, Edwardian shop fittings, antique advertising, and primitive metal signs. Equally beautiful displayed in an antique cabinet, incorporated into a vintage shop display, or styled alongside other early commercial objects.
