Rare Antique Girard F.E.W. 6-1/2” F.E. Wells & Son Co. MA Adjustable Pipe Wrench For Sale

• Frederic E. (Fred) Wells left the Wells Brothers Co. around 1900 and formed F.E. Wells & Son Co. with his son to focus on pipe-threading and pipe tools.
• They made pipe wrenches (sometimes advertised with the slogan “The Jaw That Won’t Break”), pipe vises, pipe taps, dies (including their “Economy” dies), and other plumber’s/pipefitter’s tools. They also produced some machinery such as lathes.
• The company operated primarily from about 1900 until 1917, when it was acquired by Greenfield Tap & Die Corp. for its pipe-tool line. After that, the F.E. Wells name was discontinued.

Tools stamped F.E.W. or “F.E. Wells & Son” from this maker generally date to the early 20th century (roughly 1900–1917).
