I received this as part of a collection I purchased, so I don’t know its history.
Does not look like it was used in any way. Authentic stitching on the back and behind the signature as shown.
Venancio Restrepo is a renowned master Guna (Kuna) mola maker from the San Blas Islands (Guna Yala) in Panama. He is famous for paddling out in a dugout canoe to sell his hand-sewn, multi-layered reverse-appliqué textile panels directly to visiting tourists in the early 2000s.
