Rare Canadian 3rd Regiment Boer War Pattern Soldier Clasp Knife Brooks & Crooks For Sale

This is an exceedingly rare Anglo Boer War pattern clasp knife made by the very well respected Sheffield firm ofBrooks & Crooks. The knife itself consists of a sheepsfoot blade and a marlin spike with ox horn scales and a decorated copper hanger. Both tools fold out and lock into place without being loose. Due to its extreme age, 127 years, the horn grips have dried and while there is a bit of delamination they are tight and very stable. The only real issue is at some point in the distant past about a half centimeter of the tip of the blade was snapped off. It could quite easily be reground. Luckily (possibly due to the loss of the tip) the blade edge itself has not been used and worn down by repeated use and sharpening like the few examples that have survived. This was issued to a Canadian volunteer of the 3rd Canadian Contingent that included the Royal Canadian Regiment and was organised here in Halifax, Nova Scotia where myself and the knife currently are. This was collected by myself about 36 years ago when I was clearing a house here in Halifax that had many Boer War items that had belonged to the original owner who served in the RCR here at the turn of the last century. I have added a photo of aSoldier wearing his clasp knife on his belt. The photo is just for demonstration and does not come with the knife. I am including free tracked shipping with purchase.
