Rare Carlo Mollico Capodimente Style Porcelain Sculpture - Mid-Century Italian:
$325.00

Gorgeous Vintage Italian Porcelain Masterpiece by Carlo Mollica – Romantic 18th-Century Aristocratic Couple with Majestic White Borzoi Dog!

Excellent condition! No chips or cracks.

Up for sale is this impressive, large-scale vintage porcelain figurine handcrafted in Italy by renowned sculptor Carlo Mollica (signed on the base as “C. Mollica” in elegant gold script, with “MADE IN ITALY” mark). Dating to the mid-20th century (likely 1950s–1960s), this piece captures the opulent Capodimonte/Dresden lace revival style with incredible detail and romance.

Description & Features:

• Depicts a dashing gentleman in powdered wig, red coat, and gray breeches tenderly gazing at his lady love

• The elegant lady in a voluminous pink off-the-shoulder gown with ruffled layers, floral accents, and delicate “lace” appliqué details

• Both figures posed dramatically atop a substantial naturalistic base featuring a large, flowing white Borzoi (Russian wolfhound) dog resting across her lap—symbolizing grace, loyalty, and aristocratic elegance

• Hand-painted in vibrant polychrome enamels with rich pinks, reds, blues, golds, and subtle shading

• Heavy, high-quality porcelain body with glossy finish and intricate applied lace-like elements typical of Mollica’s work

• Classic Rococo-inspired romantic theme—perfect for collectors of vintage Italian porcelain, Capodimonte reproductions, or mid-century decorative art

Artist Info: Carlo Mollica was a celebrated Italian porcelain sculptor and director associated with the post-war Capodimonte revival. Active primarily 1940s–1970s, his pieces are prized for their dramatic scale, fine modeling, and faithful homage to 18th-century Neapolitan traditions. This is not an original 18th-century Capodimonte (which uses the crown-N mark), but a genuine, high-end vintage reproduction/export piece from a master artisan.

Condition: Excellent vintage condition overall—no chips, cracks, crazing, or major repairs visible. Colors remain vibrant with intact gold gilding and delicate details. Minor expected age-related wear (light surface scratches or patina from display) commensurate with age—please review all high-resolution photos for exact details.

Measurements:

• Height: ~17-18inches (from base to gentleman’s head)

• Width: ~16–17inches (across the base)

• Weight: 7-8 lbs

Marks (shown in photos):

• Left Side: “MADE IN ITALY” + scripted gold signature “C. Mollica” (clear and authentic)

This is a standout decorative showpiece—ideal for rococo-themed homes, porcelain collections, or as a statement accent.

Happy offerding!
