Rare Large Neapolitan Creche Madonna Carved Wood Glass Eyes For Sale

Rare and exceptional Neapolitan Creche figure representing the Madonna. The head, hands, feet are all made out of wood with a wire body covered in hemp. The extremities are often made out of terracotta but this one is made of hand carved wood. It has beautiful glass eyes, typical of such figures. Old metallic trims have been transferred on to new fabric. Missing gesso and paint on some areas, most especially on the base. Contemporary crown.
