This rare vintage Saalfield Valentine book from 1948 is a must-have for collectors of holiday memorabilia. Featuring cute designs including children and anthropomorphic dogs, cats and bears, this book contains 30 valentines to cut out and make up.
The valentines were designed by vintage comic strip and children's books illustrator Ethel Hays. High quality book with lots of attention to detail including red and white designs with sayings on the backside of the valentines. On the cover, little arrows go around the heart with the boy cupid, little hearts go around the heart with the girl cupid, and bones go around the heart with the dog. So cute!
The book has never been used. Colors are remarkably bright and pretty . Some soft yellowing with age, especially on the envelope pages. Some wear on the cover, with a torn off top right-hand corner on the back. An original price of 15 cents has been penciled on the top right hand corner of the cover.
