This is a rare, authentic and unused vintage 1950s OMIAS (Order of Military Instantaneous Acceleration Society) membership card which is a highly collectible piece of military aviation history. This tongue-in-cheek novelty card was historically awarded to U.S. Military aviators and flight crews upon successfully completing their high-G explosive ejection seat indoctrination, which was notorious for causing pain in one’s derriere (Sound out O-MI-AS).
This card was found among items belonging to a relative who served aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kearsarge during its 1952-53 Korean war deployment.
The card is completely blank and unissued, making it a phenomenal, pristine addition to any military aviation or paperwork collection.
The design features the iconic aviator/pilot wing logo prominently displayed on both the left and right sides. The center design is the classic and humorous OMIAS illustration depicting a dazed man crawling on all fours after a simulated ejection.
The card front is in excellent, crisp condition with sharp text and vibrant graphics. The card is completely flat with sharp edges and corners with absolutely no tears, rips, or creases. The back has a slight yellowing/toning spot near one edge which is common for its age and 1950s paper composition.
This is a beautiful "new old stock" piece of Cold War-era jet history. Please review the photos for exact details on condition. Sold As-Is.
