Rare Vintage Boeing Canada Dash 8M-300ASW Triton Contractor Desk Model 1980s: $390.00
Up for sale is an incredibly rare, unmarked aerospace contractor display/desk model representing the unbuilt Boeing Canada / De Havilland Dash 8M-300ASW Triton concept from approximately 1986. This was part of my late father\'s collection of models. He was a Boeing engineer 1960s-1990s.This model was produced in very limited numbers for trade shows and military procurement pitches when Boeing Canada was actively marketing a heavily armed, multi-mission Maritime Patrol / Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) variant of the Dash 8 to the Canadian Armed Forces to replace the aging CP-121 Tracker fleet. Because the Triton variant was never physically built, professional display models like this are among the only physical representations of the design in existence. Weapons Loadout: highly specific, Triton design—dual fuselage-side weapon sponsons. Each sponson is armed with an inboard lightweight torpedo and an outboard anti-ship missile.Tail Section: Equipped with a prominent, extended rear Magnetic Anomaly Detector (MAD) boom protruding past the tail cone. Note: this is removable on the model.Radomes: Includes two distinct black radomes—a small weather/targeting radar on the nose and a large, circular 360-degree search radar housing on the belly.Paint Scheme: Finished in 1980s military Tactical Paint Scheme (TPS) featuring a dark grey upper fuselage, light grey lower belly, dark grey windows, and black leading edges (rubber de-icing boots) on the wings and tail/empennage.The model features no corporate logos or external serial markings, which is standard for early-stage contractor pitch models. The airframe body appears to be constructed of a high-quality solid molded resin/composite, while the fine details like the MAD boom utilize a mix of hard plastic and metal elements. The model is in excellent structural condition except for slight warp in left wing tip, with highly preserved paint lines (please see high-resolution photos for exact cosmetic condition details) although this was hand painted so you can see where the hand painting, looks, well, hand painted. Again, refer to the photos for all paint and finish blemishes. This is a piece of Cold War-era aviation history and a must-have for serious military model collectors, De Havilland/Boeing enthusiasts, or aerospace historians. Due to the size of the packaging box, this item is not offered with combined shipping discount with other items.
