Extremely Rare Original Chung Ling Soo Memorandum Letterhead (c. 1905–1915)
Up for sale is an authentic, period-original memorandum sheet from the legendary Golden Age magician Chung Ling Soo (William Ellsworth Robinson, 1861–1918). This stunning piece of magic history features his iconic, highly detailed lithograph border design showcasing vibrant blue dragons and a gold frame, topped with a red seal containing Robinson's portrait.
Text on Sheet:
"Memorandum from CHUNG LING SOO, Marvellous Chinese Conjurer"
Condition & Authenticity Notes:
• Authenticity: Guaranteed period-original. This is not a modern digital reproduction or novelty notepad reprint. The back of the sheet displays a clear, natural ink bleed/show-through from the heavy lithographic inks used during the era.
• Paper & Aging: Features magnificent, natural ambient edge-toning (oxidation halo) along the margins, proving its 110+ year age.
• Defects: The sheet shows signs of age-related wear, including brittle chipping, tears, and minor paper loss along the top margin (as pictured). The main lithographic image remains bright, clean, and incredibly striking.
• Storage: Currently housed on a white cardstock backing inside a protective clear sleeve to prevent further wear.
This is a premier investment piece for collectors of vintage magicana, posters, and Houdini-era illusionist ephemera. Perfect for custom archival framing.
