Up for your consideration is a Rare VintageFranciscan Pottery Atomic Starburst Pepper Grinder Mill MCM Sputnik Tableware.
Franciscan's Starburst Line was created in the mid-50's. Introducedin 1954, Starburst is a smooth, decal-pattern Atomic design, not a raised,hand-painted one. The pattern was designed by George James. Miller'sCollectibles states that the Starburst pattern was only produced from1954-1957.
The body is in wonderful condition. However, look closely atthe pictures - the top has rust around the pointy parts. There is some mildpitting on the chrome surface. The bottom has some pitting as well.
I was unsure how to open the grinder. It is not “grinding” atthe moment. That is not to say that it will not, but I do not want to mess withit and cause damage. There are some pepper grounds still inside-I can hearthem.
