Step back into the golden era of postcard collecting with this remarkable lot of authentic early 1900s (circa 1907) novelty leather postcards! Popular during the Edwardian era, these novelty postcards were crafted from real leather with burned, embossed, or hand-painted illustrations and humorous, romantic, or cheeky sayings.
This collection features classic vintage motifs, including steam trains, humor, romance, animals, and local town references (such as Monroe, WI and Cedar Rapids, IA). These early leather postcards were banned by the U.S. Post Office in 1907 because they jammed post office sorting machines, making surviving pieces highly sought-after historical collectibles today!
