Rare Vintage Pre-1954 Estwing 18 oz. Sheet Metal/Tinner's Hammer with Genuine Leather Handle!
Beautiful piece to add to a collection! This is the original leather handle from when it was made back in Pre-1954!
The hammer is over 70 years old! It was in rough condition when I got it! These vintage sheet metal/tinner's hammers from the 1950s are rare these days & hard to find in decent enough condition to refurbish!
This one would be a good piece to display among other Estwings you may have collected! I don't anticipate coming across many more of either the 12 oz or 18 oz models as time goes by!
Specs:
Total Length: 11 3/4" Head Weight: 18 oz. Total Weight: 24.5 oz. Head Width: 5 3/8" Handle Length: 10 3/4" Manufacture Date: Pre-1954 (Blank Plate) The face & chopping end are in good condition for a hammer this old. Usually, the face & chopping end take a beating and are hard to restore to their factory shapes. I was able to restore some of this hammer's former beauty! Please see all the photos!
The leather handle shows normal wear & aging. Over the years, it has picked up some scars, but it has been thoroughly cleaned, reconditioned & treated with "Sno-Seal," which waterproofs it & protects the leather from drying out!
Finally, I use a high-grade leather polish to give it a shiny, natural finish that also helps seal the leather further!
The steel has been treated with "rust-block" to help protect it from corrosion! The treatment is effective for about a year! I show the product I used in the last photo! It does not come with the sale!
I have a variety of refurbished leather-handle Estwing Hammers of various weights & models!
I combine shipping if multiple purchases are made!
Will ship within 24 hours!
Note: This leather handle has held up really well over the years! I strongly suggest keeping this one among others in a collection. These early 1950 sheet metal hammers are not that easy to come by in fair enough condition to refurbish!
