Rare WWI US Army M1904 2nd Field Hospital Pennsylvania Unit 13 Marked Bolo Knife For Sale

Early WWI US Army Model 1904 Hospital Corps Bolo Knife with a 1905 date and serial no. 4296. Measures 17.25\" overall with a blade length of 12\". Blade shows much original finish with some wear, scratches and some scattered dings/nicks around the front end of blade edge. The guard and handle are all tight with no looseness. Right side of handle shows a tight 1\" crack, with a tiny hairline crack by the pommel area by the brass rivet. Nice looking scabbard and stamped on the leather, \"ROCK ISLAND ARSENAL 1912 H.E.K\" (Inspector markings of Henry E. Kelsey), Top area by the neck is stamped, \"L.S.\" with an inverted \"JB\" and \"C.O.\" Below this is stamped, \"F.H. 2 1 3\".Which stands for the 2nd Field Hospital Pennsylvania Unit 13.These were intended for the U.S. Army Medical Dept. for clearing bush and vegetation, to set up field hospitals in the Philippines and Cuba, not typically for medical procedures. An interesting piece of U.S. History.
