SAILOR Profit Maki-e Fountain Pen Mt.Fuji by Kousen Oshita 14K M Nib Rare NEWAbout This Item
Sailor Profit fountain pen featuring a hand-painted maki-e lacquer design of Mt. Fuji, created by Kousen Oshita (大下香仙), the fourth-generation head of a renowned maki-e lacquer workshop. The design depicts Mt. Fuji with pine trees, plum blossoms, and sailing boats rendered in gold, red, and blue lacquer over a black body. Maki-e is a traditional Japanese lacquer art technique in which gold or silver powder is sprinkled onto wet lacquer to create raised, textured designs — a craft dating back over a thousand years in Japan.
As each maki-e piece is individually hand-painted by the artist, no two examples are exactly alike, making this a rare, one-of-a-kind piece that is no longer available for purchase as new from Sailor in Japan.
The pen is fitted with a 14K medium (M) nib and uses a cartridge/converter filling system; please note no converter is included. This pen is brand new and unused — it has not been inked or writing-tested. The original wooden presentation box, instruction manual, and quality guarantee card are included.
Please review all photos carefully, as they form part of the item description.
