Savannah is an historic city and was the site of Oglethorpe Barracks, a major coastal installation constructed in 1834. During the Civil War it was occupied by Confederate troops and served as a Confederate Army Hospital . An Original US Army Letter, from the Army Bureau of Equipage, ordering the issue of uniform items to Ordnance Sergeant E Burt, at the Barracks. The Letter is written for Colonel Charles Thomas, October 8, 1858 and addressed to Captain George Gibson at Schuylkill Arsenal. The 1 p 8 x 11 ptd/ink Letter has minor wear, age spots, Overall VG Condition. The signer Jams Warren was Chief Clerk for the US Army Office of Equipment at Philadelphia.
