Striking handmade Chulucanas art pottery vessel by noted Peruvian master potter Santodio Paz Juárez of Piura, Peru.
Large rounded form measuring approximately 7” tall × 8” wide, decorated with dramatic turquoise-blue birds in flight and stylized clouds against a rich dark brown ground. The bold turquoise-and-brown palette and sweeping bird decoration make this an especially attractive display piece.
The underside is hand signed/inscribed Santodio Paz Juarez and identifies the piece as handmade.
Santodio Paz Juárez is a recognized master of the Chulucanas pottery tradition of Peru, known for handmade vessels incorporating birds, flowers and regional imagery.
Condition: Good vintage condition with age-related surface wear. There is visible loss/wear to portions of the dark brown surface color, particularly on the shoulder, as clearly photographed. There is also a small kiln pop/firing flaw, originating during manufacture. No attempt has been made to touch up or restore the surface. Please examine all photographs carefully for condition.
