Up for sale is an original Sargent VBM lever cap for a Sargent No. 18 fore plane. This is the desirable early style featuring the keyhole-shaped slot, short cam lever, and the original"SARGENT VBM" trademark cast into the face. The reverse side is cast"18", identifying it as a correct cap for the No. 18 size plane. VBM-era Sargent lever caps are associated with the early 1900s period, and examples with cast model numbers on the reverse are documented by collectors.

This lever cap measures approximately 2-3/8" wide and is in exceptional collector-grade condition. The casting is crisp and well-defined throughout, with sharp logo details and a clearly visible cast "18" on the reverse. There are no cracks, chips, welds, brazed repairs, rust pitting, or other damage. The cam lever operates smoothly, the hook is intact, and the cap retains excellent overall definition.
