Standard Gasoline Brass Tank Tag Belt Buckle Vintage Standard Oil Petroliana For Sale

Original brass tank tag embossed STANDARD GASOLINE, made by Standard Oil back when every farm tank and bulk barrel wore one of these — later converted by hand into a belt buckle. The tag itself is the real thing: solid brass, about 3-1/4 inches wide, with honest patina, light scratches and dings, and its original punched hole still at one end. A previous owner soldered and riveted a steel back plate with a wire loop and pin fitting onto it (all shown in the back photo), turning it into a wearable buckle. The loop takes a belt up to about 1-1/2 inches wide.Sold as found: this is a folk conversion, not a factory buckle, and the back shows the solder work plainly. The face is the part that matters, and it reads great.Somewhere there's a fuel tank that still thinks it's labeled.Ships fast from Algona, Iowa via USPS Ground Advantage. Thanks for looking!
