Simply gorgeous! Found this queenly beauty - a stand-out Lovely young Caribbean island girl/woman from an eclectic vintage doll collection.
Her skirt has a stiff petticoat fabric beneath its widely gathered lace trimmed skirt which makes it flow like a regal queen. The fabric is a feast of colors and pattern for the eyes
I sat her body in a glass pitcher to get this impressive display look. She makes a presence of serene joy. Love her expression and beautifully handpainted face. Her face is a plaster beneath some kind of smooth material that creates the palette for her face and head (she has molded black hair beneath the head wrap.)
Her body is a simple rag doll- stiff and stuffed with what fells like a straw material but has no odor at all. The body is short. Much shorter than the skirt so she looks best displayed in a tall wide jar or vase or pitcher. Or can be laid on pillows to accent a bed.
I took photos so you could see how big she is from a distance on my large bedroom dresser.
Her dress and white lace are original but she has had an update with her beautiful black lace and gold shiny headscarf and shimmering gold earrings.
I think she will bring an almost angelic presence to any home, a regal black touch of ethnic global island queen energy to grace any room that needs a special touch of beauty and color and feminine strength.
From head scarf to bottom of lace she is over 20 inches tall.
She was made in the midcentury and was a handcrafted Souviner doll from one of the Caribbean islands but I am not sure which one.
I just know she is special and will find the perfect home with someone who will truly enjoy her!
