The central decal depicts a single-engine, WWII-era fighter aircraft bearing the Star of David roundel and a tail number, representing the nascent Israeli Air Force during the 1948–1949 War of Independence. The rim is inscribed in orange lettering: "WAR OF INDEPENDENCE OF ISRAEL, 1948–1949" and "55 YEARS OF ISRAEL," dating this piece to a commemorative run marking the State of Israel's 55th anniversary.
