The magician shows five window envelopes, each containing a famous oil painting, and engages the participants in a trivia game to name the paintings based on clues on the back of each envelope. Then the real challenge: find the fake. The participant chooses a painting, guessing that it is a fake, and the magician removes it from its envelope, placing it face up on the table.
The magician next removes the paintings not chosen, showing a bold X on the back of each of them. Finally the selected painting is turned over - and this is the only card with a check mark on the back. Did the spectator find the fake? Maybe so! But then, in a hilarious twist, the other paintings are flipped over and they have all transformed into wacky obvious fakes! Only the chosen card has a check mark on the back - and looks normal - and all of the cards can be examined!
