The Last Unicorn 1982 Original Production Cel For Sale

This is an Original The Last Unicorn 1982 Production Cel, it was used in the creation of the film and features the characters Schmendrick the Magician, Molly Grue and Prince Lir.
Schmendrick the Magician is a magician who works for Mommy Fortuna's travelling sideshow called The Midnight Carnival but later frees the Unicorn from the cage and joins her on her quest. While he often fails at basic tricks, his hidden power awakens during moments of deep crisis. He longs to be a real and powerful magician and eventually he does become this as the story progresses. Molly Grue is the wife of the outlaw Captain Cully before leaving him to join the unicorn's journey and lastly but not least this cel features Prince Lir, the adopted son of King Haggard who was found as an infant abandoned in the dreary town of Hagsgate, unlike Haggard he grew up to be compassionate, kind and honorable.It is very rare to come across any production cels from the film as Rankin/Bass's The Last Unicorn (animated by Topcraft in Japan) had a more limited theatrical run and merchandise footprint, meaning fewer production materials entered private hands. Many of the creators of the Last Unicorn animation that worked for Topcraft went on to work for Studio Ghibli after Topcraft became bankrupt and Hayao Miyazaki, Isao Takahaka and Toshio Suzuki bought the assets in 1985 and formed the now well known Studio Ghibli.
