Functional Beauty!Note of Interest: Ruby Flash or Ruby Stain glass is a decorated pattern glass that was popular in the United States from 1890's to 1920's. It is made by coating glass with a chemical solution containing copper sulfide and baking it in a kiln, which turns the coating bright red. Some pieces were used for souvenir glass with a person, city, state, event or date etched in the piece. Clear pressed glass from the Depression era often had Flash Rims while earlier Edwardian or Victorian pieces were often fully coated blown glass. All this glass is generally referred to as Bohemian glass. The original Antique Bohemian Ruby Red Glass was cased or layered and not stained or flashed. Often Crystal or Crystal cut glass.
