Upton SINCLAIR / Signature / Unsigned Photograph Signed For Sale

Author: SINCLAIR, Upton (1878-1968)
Title: Signature / Unsigned Photograph

Description: Incredibly prolific during his long life span, this American novelist will always be remembered for "The Jungle," his shocking 1906 fictional exposé of conditions in the Chicago stockyards; an active social reformer, he ran as a socialist candidate for Congress and te California governorship.

Bold signature in blue ballpoint on a heavy stock 5" X 3" card, n.p., n.y. Near fine. A superb later-life non-tremulous example, undated but of 1960s vintage. Accompanied by an unsigned glossy 8½" X 11" photograph, a modern print of Imogen Cunningham's well-known 1934 portrait showing an intense Sinclair in suit and tie seated with newspaper in his lap. Near fine. Faint paper clip mark at upper left.
