**ITEM DETAILS & HISTORICAL BACKSTORY:**

Up for sale is a rare, highly detailed pair of local Virginia medical history ephemera. Unlike most generic or blank advertising boxes found today, both of these pharmacy boxes feature completely intact, beautifully preserved, typed interior prescription labels from the historic Broadway Drug Store (located on South Main Street in Broadway, VA, which operated from the mid-1920s until its closure in 2021).

**The Lot Includes:**

1. **1939 Prescription Box:** Rx No. N 3771, explicitly dated 1/5/39. Prescribed to patient Mrs. John Chapman. Directions read: "One every two hours."

2. **1947 Prescription Box:** Rx No. 114609, explicitly dated 1/24/47. Prescribed to patient Mr. Homer Dove. Directions read: "One after meals."

**Design Notes:**

Both items feature a fascinating mid-century safety design. The text printed inside the lid proudly states: "This Box is Hinged so that the Lid and Doctor's Directions can not be misplaced"—an innovative safety mechanism to prevent patients from mix-matching instructions. The 1947 box still retains its original protective inner cotton fluff padding!

Excellent vintage condition for paper/cardboard items of this era. Structurally sound with fully intact, functional paper hinges.
