This is a Vintage 1947 Dutch Delft WWII Commemorative Tile made in Holland. These tiles were produced during the German occupation of Netherlands in World War II as subtle tokens of patriotism and resistance.Vintage Dutch Delft tiles are made of soft, porous clay (earthenware) covered with a white tin glaze.The base of the tile consists of local clay shaped in a wooden mold and fired at relatively low temperatures (around 1,000 degrees Celsius). Measures approximately 6 1/8\" inches tall by 3 1/4\" inches wide. See pictures for condition. Item sold as is.The imagery: The top section depicts the silhouette of Amsterdam (featuring the historic Westerkerk Tower), with a large flame rising from a cushion in the foreground.
