This is a vintage mid-century Clicquot Club advertising wire display rack, likely dating from the 1940s or 1950s.
These heavy-duty metal wire racks were distributed to grocery and general stores to hold and showcase heavy glass quart bottles of soda, sparkling water, and ginger ale.
Key Features of this Piece
The Brand: Clicquot Club (originally founded in Millis, Massachusetts) was one of the biggest beverage and ginger ale manufacturers in the country during the first half of the 20th century. They were famous for their iconic Eskimo mascot ("Kleek-O") and for pioneering the use of a lot of country-store advertising merchandise.
The Graphics: It features built-in painted metal advertising panels across the front of the shelving tiers, specifically highlighting "Clicquot Club", "Sparkling Water", and "Ginger Ale" in their classic red typography.
Condition: For a piece of industrial store advertising, this one is in solid, highly desirable shape. It has some visible surface rust and age-related patina on the wire grids, but the painted text on the signs is completely legible and retains crisp red paint.
