Vintage L. Bamberger & Co. Newark, NJ Regular Charge Account Card
Offered is an original L. Bamberger & Co., Newark, New Jersey “Regular Charge Account” card, believed to date to the 1920s–1930s.
This is an interesting piece of early American retail and charge-account history from L. Bamberger & Co., the famous Newark department store. The front features the Bamberger’s name, “Regular Charge Account,” the original cardholder’s information, account number, and handwritten signature. The reverse states that the holder was entitled to the services and privileges associated with a Regular Charge Account at “One of America’s Great Stores.”
The card is made of paper/card stock and has the appearance of an original, period-issued charge-account card, rather than a modern reproduction.
Condition:
Shows substantial age and handling consistent with an early paper collectible. There is overall age toning/discoloration, creasing, surface wear, and wear to the corners and edges. The printing remains clear and legible, and the original handwritten signature is still present. Please see all photos carefully for the exact condition.
A great addition to a collection of vintage advertising, department-store memorabilia, Newark history, early American charge cards, banking/financial history, or retail ephemera.
Important: This is a historical collectible only and has no current purchasing or credit value.
The personal name and account number visible on the original card are not included in the listing title.
