VTG '38 OLE MISS MEDICAL CLUB RX DANCE INVITATION HALLOWEEN DANCE CARD DELTA ZETAVery nice condition for the age. The jack o lantern outline has faded into the invitation from long years of storage inside the original envelope. The black and orange ribbons show age appropriate wear. The envelope flap, although intact, shows storage wear. Please see all photos as they help in the description and ask if in doubt.Passed down in the family, this was found in the family member's Ole Miss scrapbook dating from 1937-1939.Ray Foster and Katherine Fontaine were both enrolled in the University of Mississippi School of Medicine medical school at Ole Miss in 1938 graduating in the class of 1939. This was when the medical school was located on campus at Oxford and was a two year basic sciences programRay mailed Katherine the professionally printed invitation for the Rx Dance put on by the Medical Club posted Nov. 11, 1938 UNIVERSITY, MISS. using a 1 cent stamp and addressing it to her and just the address of Campus. The dance was to be held at the Armory in University, Miss. on Nov. 15, 1938.We believe the handmade dance card, made to look like a Halloween jack o lantern with eyes looking like the Greek letters Delta Zeta, was from an earlier dance put on by Katherine's sorority, Delta Zeta in which she invited Ray. Her dance card was full with Ray getting a dance at number 12.
