Up for sale is a beautiful vintage boxed set of four (4) Chinese inside-painted (reverse-painted) glass snuff bottles.
Each bottle is uniquely hand-painted from the inside out using traditional miniature brushwork (Nei Hua). The set features highly detailed monochrome and soft-toned traditional Chinese mountain landscapes, river scenes, and figures traveling through valleys.
Box & Packaging Details:
- The presentation box features a traditional patterned blue/grey brocade fabric exterior with bone/plastic toggle fasteners.
- The interior features a vibrant, clean yellow padded satin insert that safely cradles each bottle.
- The bottom of the box has its original paper backing, showing some typical age-related coloration, light shelf scuffs, and a faint vintage pencil inventory notation as pictured.
Condition Details:
- The painted glass bodies and illustrations remain in excellent vintage condition with no chips or cracks.
- The fabric display box is structurally fully intact, showing only the normal minor shelf wear on the bottom mentioned above.
- Please Note: Two of the small red decorative lid stoppers have completely detached from their cork bases. The set is being sold strictly "as-is" in its unaltered vintage state. We have left them exactly as found so the buyer can choose whether to leave them resting in place or complete a proper restoration.
