Another wonderful thing out of my parents Fine Japanese Art Collection, acquired while living and working in Japan in the 1970\'s, and recently out of a long storage.
A lovely vintage Japanese rectangular lidded box, from the early Showa period, handwoven from bamboo and finished in a traditional dark brown lacquer, with subtle red undertones. It was traditionally used as a document box, or for storing small personal objects.
It has a solid fitted lid, using a traditional twill weave technique known as \"ajiro-ami,\" which creates a distinct diagonal herringbone pattern. It measures as shown, and has no damage except for very minor signs of use on the bottom only, shown.
Condition is excellent collectible vintage, with condition as described above. A stunning piece for the Japanese collector, to use or showcase on its own, coming from a smoke-free environment. Any questions you have prior to offerding, please contact me. Please review all photos as they are part of the description, and the item is being sold as described.
