This is a beautifully preserved vintage mid-century Japanese black lacquer musical jewelry box cabinet, manutactured by the world-renowned Sankyo company.Featuring striking hand-painted artistry, shell inlays, and a fully tunctional mechanical movement, this exceptional export piece dates to the 1950s-1960s and remains in remarkably complete condition.The twin front cabinet doors showcase a classic hand-painted landscape scene featuring Mount Fuji on the left and a traditional tiered Pagoda on the right. Accented with vibrant blues, greens, and elegant gold-painted filigree.The upper frame border is intricately embellished with genuine iridescent abalone / mother-of-pearl mosaic tile inlay that shimmers beautifully in the light.Opening the main doors reveals a vibrant red-velvet stage surrounded by a multi-pane glass mirror enclosure. Inside, a miniature fabric-clad Geisha doll rotates gracefully when the music plays.Highly complete layout featuring six (6) miniature side drawers lined with bright red lacquer interiors and a large pull-out bottom drawer, all adorned with traditional brass \"Chou\" (long life/good fortune) character pull-tabs.The wind-up mechanism turns smoothly, plays a classic Japanese melody cleanly, and the inner Geisha figure spins pertectly.Excellent Vintage Condition!
